**Job Title:** Support Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Provide technical support, incident management, and proactive system monitoring for critical Linux, Windows, and cloud (AWS/Azure) environments within a high‑profile financial services organisation. Deliver rapid resolution of complex issues, maintain system stability, security, and performance, and collaborate with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
**Expectations:**
- 6‑month contract, renewable, remote‑UK (Berlin time zone).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in technical support or system administration.
- Prior exposure to the financial services/trading sector.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Own troubleshooting and resolution of complex incidents across Linux, Windows, and cloud platforms.
- Lead incident investigation, root‑cause analysis, and post‑mortem documentation.
- Conduct proactive system monitoring, apply alerts and thresholds, and respond to alerts in tools such as New Relic and Kibana.
- Execute routine system maintenance, patching, and performance tuning to ensure high availability and compliance.
- Automate repetitive tasks and deploy scripts (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
- Coordinate with engineering, security, and product teams, and communicate status to internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain knowledge base articles, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
**Required Skills:**
- Deep knowledge of Linux and Windows server administration.
- Proficient with AWS and Azure services (compute, networking, IAM, monitoring).
- Strong scripting/automation ability with Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Experience using monitoring platforms (New Relic, Kibana, etc.).
- Excellent incident response, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Bonus: experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker/Kubernetes, Terraform, or Ansible.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Industry certifications are a plus: e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator / Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent.
