Job Description
Job Title: Mechanical Designer Role Summary: Responsible for CAD modeling, product design, and development support for manufacturing projects. Works with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate 3D files, drawings, and quality documentation in a timely manner. Expectations: Deliver complete and compliant design files that meet project deadlines and manufacturing requirements. Collaborate with designers, engineers, and project managers to refine concepts and ensure production readiness. Key Responsibilities: - 3D model parts and components using SolidWorks and reverse engineering techniques. - Create 3D CAD files and 2D drawings from customer specifications. - Develop initial concepts, revise designs, and finalize drawings per leadership reviews. - Design EDM electrode files and custom holding fixtures. - Perform 3D scanning of parts and incorporate measurements into CAD models. - Prepare quality checklists for each design phase (preliminary and final). - Attend kick‑off and status meetings to capture requirements and deadlines. - Support manufacturing and quality control tasks as required. Required Skills: - SolidWorks CAD proficiency (1–4+ years). - Ability to produce detailed 3D models and technical drawings. - Knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes. - Familiarity with aerospace standards and drawings (asset). - Strong communication for cross‑functional collaboration. Required Education & Certifications: - Minimum high‑school diploma or equivalent. - Criminal record check and controlled goods screening (mandatory). - Accreditation from a Canadian Design or Engineering authority (asset).
