Job Specifications

The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for the following:

Role:

A Mechanical Designer is responsible for helping to ensure all activities related to design, CAD modelling, and product development are completed in a timely fashion. They will work with other designers, engineers, and project managers to ensure projects are modelled, drawings are completed, and production is supported as needed. They will use CAD software such as SolidWorks and other tools such as 3D scanners to ensure accurate production files are available for manufacture. They may be required to make 2D drawings and specify tolerances where needed. They may also help with other aspects of manufacturing such as quality control if required.

Duties Include:

3D modelling of parts and components for manufacture from drawings or using various reverse engineering methods
Create 3D CAD files and drawings based off customer supplied information
Design initial concept for customer ideas and components
Revise and complete designs, to recommended revisions
Complete final revisions from meetings with Leaders and PM's
Complete in process design or engineering revisions as needed
Design of electrode files for EDM department
Design of special holding fixtures required to manufacture and or check parts
Completion of quality checklists for each stage of the design, Preliminary and Final
3D scanning of parts or components
Create product design and perform product development as lined up by Project Manager
Meet directly or in formal kick-off meetings with Project Leaders and Project Managers to understand all requirements and deadlines of job needing design work.
Other supporting tasks as required

Qualifications:

Minimum High School education or equivalent
Mandatory that this role take part in a criminal record check and controlled goods screening

Experience:

1 to 4+ years of work experience in CAD, preferably SolidWorks
Experience in the machining or manufacturing industry is considered an asset
Experience with aerospace standards and drawings is considered an asset
Accreditation from Design or Engineering authority in Canada is considered an asset

Core Work hours:

7:30am-4:00pm Monday – Friday
