**Job Title:**
Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (AWS)
**Role Summary:**
Senior engineer responsible for designing, automating, and maintaining the company’s AWS‑based infrastructure and associated monitoring systems. Works within a growing DevOps team to support software development and operations, with occasional on‑site visits to the Portsmouth office.
**Expectations:**
- Lead infrastructure automation initiatives and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Scale existing DevOps processes to meet increasing demand.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure reliable, performant environments.
- Provide occasional on‑site support in Portsmouth (ad‑hoc, ~twice/month).
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design, implement, and maintain AWS services (ECS, Docker, Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation).
- Automate provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, and CDK.
- Manage monitoring and alerting (Nagios, Loggly) for all environments.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Git, GitHub Actions.
- Support hybrid infrastructure (Microsoft Windows Server, SQL, IIS) and limited Azure resources.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure incidents; document solutions.
- Contribute to infrastructure security, cost optimization, and best‑practice standards.
**Required Skills:**
- Strong experience with AWS (ECS, EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, CDK).
- Proficiency in infrastructure‑as‑code tools: Terraform, Ansible.
- Containerization expertise (Docker, ECS).
- CI/CD pipeline development using GitHub Actions or similar.
- Monitoring/alerting tools: Nagios, Loggly or equivalents.
- Familiarity with Windows Server, SQL Server, IIS, and basic Azure services.
- Scripting/programming (Shell, Python, PowerShell).
- Good problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- AWS certification (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional or AWS DevOps Engineer) preferred.
- Relevant DevOps or infrastructure certifications (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) a plus.
