Job Description
**Job Title:** Director of Engineering **Role Summary:** Senior engineering leader responsible for guiding multiple squads of developers and engineering managers. Converts strategic technology goals into executable plans, maintains high quality, performance, and reliability standards, and drives technical modernization while fostering team growth and collaboration with Product, Design, and Platform leadership. **Expectations:** - Lead a distributed engineering organization of 15+ direct/indirect reports. - Translate broad technology priorities into actionable squad objectives. - Maintain ownership of architectural direction, delivery predictability, and engineering excellence. - Communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders and support data‑driven decision making. - Champion a customer‑focused mindset, linking engineering outcomes to business value. **Key Responsibilities:** - Manage and mentor engineering managers and senior engineers across multiple squads. - Define and evolve team structures, processes, and goals as the organization scales. - Ensure reliability, performance, and quality across all delivered assets. - Collaborate with Product and Design to deliver solution that solve real customer problems. - Lead architectural discussions, technical trade‑offs, and alignment with long‑term platform strategy. - Use data and metrics to improve delivery predictability, quality, and engineering effectiveness. - Drive technical modernization and digital transformation initiatives. **Required Skills:** - 10+ years of engineering leadership experience with at least 15 engineers. - Strong technical foundation in backend (Java) and frontend (JavaScript/VueJS) stack. - Deep understanding of modern software architecture, scalability, and performance. - Proven expertise in CI/CD, cloud infrastructure (AWS), and scalable system design. - Experience guiding technical modernization or digital transformation projects. - Coaching, talent development, and high‑performance team building. - Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to engage both technical and non‑technical partners. - Calm, pragmatic leadership style; clarity in ambiguous situations. - Customer‑focused mindset; ability to align engineering priorities with user outcomes. - Fluency in English. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. - Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Java certification) are a plus.
