Job Description
Job Title: Welfare Officer – East Sussex Role Summary The Welfare Officer supports service users in a temporary accommodation setting, ensuring their safety, well‑being, and smooth transition through comprehensive case management, property oversight, and liaison with stakeholders. The role requires 48 hours per week, including shift work across days, nights, and public holidays, with a fixed 12‑month contract. Expectations - Manage a assigned caseload of service users within the Initial Accommodation estate. - Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records and comply with company procedures and safeguarding standards. - Be readily available for emergencies and work effectively with a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities - Conduct regular welfare checks, room inspections, and incident reporting for all service users. - Signpost users to medical, retail, and support services as needed. - Coordinate transport and relocation of users, ensuring timely move‑outs. - Manage property maintenance: monthly inspections, defect reporting, minor repairs, and inventory management. - Prepare and submit necessary certification and documentation for properties. - Liaise with local agencies, stakeholders, and team members to maintain support networks. - Provide training and cover for team members; attend team and stakeholder meetings. - Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of personal data. - Perform additional duties within scope, including participation in local projects. Required Skills - Strong organisational and time‑management abilities. - Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including liaison with users and external agencies. - Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and accommodation management procedures. - Ability to work independently, handle emergencies, and adapt to shift schedules. - Proficiency with record‑keeping systems and basic property management tools. - Team‑orientation, willingness to support colleagues, and commitment to continuous learning. Required Education & Certifications - UK‑based DBS check (suitable for role). - Counter‑Terrorism Clearance (CTC). - No specific degree required; relevant experience in welfare, social care, or accommodation management preferred.
