**Job Title** Food Scientist / Kitchen R&D – Menu Development (Early-Stage) **Role Summary** Apply food‑science expertise in a hands‑on kitchen environment to design, test, and refine an initial launch menu of 10–14 meals for a meal‑prep brand. Collaborate closely with founders and chefs, ensuring each dish is production‑friendly, reheats well, and meets ingredient synergy and texture stability goals. **Expectations** - Create 10–14 launch‑ready meals within the first project phase. - Translate food‑science principles into practical recipe adjustments for batch cooking, reheating, and long‑term shelf stability. - Evaluate and iterate recipes in real‑time kitchen testing, providing feedback on ingredient performance and technique viability. - Support ongoing menu refinement and R&D as the company scales. **Key Responsibilities** - Conduct hands‑on batch cooking and taste testing. - Apply ingredient pairing, texture stabilization, and reheat‑performance analysis. - Modify recipes in real time to meet meal‑prep constraints. - Identify and flag ingredients or techniques that do not work in a prepared‑foods environment. - Document observations, recipe changes, and scalability recommendations. - Work collaboratively with chef team and founders to align product vision with production feasibility. - Contribute to long‑term menu development, R&D, and system design as the business evolves. **Required Skills** - Food‑science or food‑technology background with practical kitchen experience. - Prior experience in meal‑prep, catering, commissary, or prepared‑foods kitchens. - Proficiency in batch cooking, tasting, and recipe adjustment. - Strong analytical and systems‑thinking abilities. - Comfortable working in fast‑moving, build‑from‑scratch startup environments. - Team‑oriented and collaborative mindset. - Knowledge of kosher meal preparation is a plus but not required. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Food Science, Food Technology, Culinary Nutrition, or a related discipline. - Relevant culinary or food‑technology certifications (e.g., Certified Food Scientist, NCAs) are advantageous.
