Job title: DevOps Engineer – Mid Career
Role Summary:
Mid‑career engineer responsible for building, deploying, and maintaining a highly available microservices platform that supports a modernized operational system. The role centers on infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD automation, container orchestration, and cloud platform management, primarily within AWS and Kubernetes environments.
Expectations:
• 3‑5 years of DevOps or related systems engineering experience.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and operate cloud‑native workloads.
• Strong scripting and automation skills with experience in Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including developers and security specialists.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) using Terraform for AWS resources (EC2, Lambda, S3, VPC, NAT, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, Athena, Step Functions).
2. Script automation tasks in Python or Ansible to provision managed services, perform patching, hardening, and compliance on RHEL instances.
3. Deploy and manage containerized workloads with Kubernetes (EKS, ECS, or Fargate) and Docker Compose, ensuring performance tuning and resource efficiency.
4. Build, test, and deploy pipelines using GitLab CI/CD runners and Argo CD, integrating automated build, test, and deployment processes.
5. Configure and maintain cloud‑native logging, metrics, and monitoring solutions (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
6. Troubleshoot infrastructure issues, ensuring high availability and zero‑downtime operations.
7. Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
Required Skills:
- Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform) for AWS.
- Kubernetes orchestration (EKS, ECS, Fargate).
- Containerization (Docker, Docker Compose).
- CI/CD pipeline design (GitLab, Argo CD).
- Scripting (Python, Ansible).
- Linux (RHEL) system administration, patching, and hardening.
- Cloud networking fundamentals (VPC, subnets, NAT, routing).
- Monitoring & logging tools (cloud native, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
- No mandatory certifications required, though AWS, Terraform, or Kubernetes credentials are considered a plus.
