Job Description
Job title: Catering Development Manager (East of England & Midlands) Role Summary: Provide strategic leadership and development of catering services across a portfolio of academies. Work closely with the Head of Catering to enhance quality, consistency, compliance, and financial performance, while motivating and supporting on‑site catering teams. Expectations: - Drive continuous improvement of catering standards and operational efficiency. - Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and regulatory requirements. - Deliver measurable financial performance and cost‑control outcomes. - Champion the ATT2030 vision of developing capable, confident staff and students. - Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within catering operations. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement catering strategies that meet the needs of multiple academies. - Conduct regular site visits and audits to assess food safety, quality, and service delivery. - Analyse performance data, cost structures, and financial statements to identify improvement opportunities. - Provide coaching, training, and performance management for catering staff across sites. - Collaborate with academy leadership to align catering services with educational goals and student wellbeing. - Lead initiatives to standardise best practices, menu design, and sustainable procurement. - Prepare detailed reports, briefings, and presentations for senior leadership and stakeholders. - Manage travel logistics and schedule to ensure timely support across the region. Required Skills: - Proven experience in catering or hospitality management, preferably in a multi‑site or educational setting. - Strong leadership and team‑development capabilities. - In‑depth knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP, BRC, FSA, etc.) and compliance frameworks. - Analytical ability to interpret performance metrics and financial data. - Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills. - Ability to work independently, drive change, and deliver results under tight deadlines. - Proficiency in MS Office and catering management or ERP systems. - Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles. Required Education & Certifications: - Degree or diploma in Hospitality, Food Service Management, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience). - Current food safety certification (e.g., HACCP Lead Auditor, BRC Food Safety Lead Auditor, or equivalent). - Leadership or management qualification preferred (e.g., CIPD Level 4, Institute of Hospitality credential, or similar).
