**Job Title** Data Privacy Counsel **Role Summary** Provide practical legal guidance on privacy and data‑sharing issues across multiple jurisdictions for a global consumer‑products company. Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s data protection framework, commercial agreements, and privacy governance tools. **Expectations** - Qualified solicitor in the UK or lawyer qualified in another jurisdiction. - Proven experience in data privacy law, preferably in‑house. - Ability to work in a hybrid model (3 days on‑site, 2 days remote). - Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship). - Commitment to ongoing professional development in an international setting. **Key Responsibilities** - Deliver clear, actionable advice on privacy and data‑sharing matters for diverse regions. - Collaborate with senior legal stakeholders to promote the global data protection framework. - Review, negotiate, and draft data‑protection clauses in e‑commerce, software, and consulting contracts. - Prepare privacy documentation (e.g., data processing agreements, cross‑border transfer agreements) and conduct privacy impact assessments. - Maintain and update privacy policies, standards, and training materials. - Ensure accurate recording of personal data processing activities in governance tools. - Assist with data subject access requests and coordinate responses to data‑security incidents. - Monitor emerging privacy legislation and regulatory guidance; provide summaries to relevant parties. - Work with privacy champions, internal audit, and other stakeholders to embed data‑protection practices. **Required Skills** - In‑depth knowledge of UK GDPR, EU data‑protection laws, and other international privacy regimes. - Strong contract negotiation and drafting abilities focused on data‑protection provisions. - Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business guidance. - Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills. - Proactive monitoring of legislative developments and regulatory trends. - Experience with privacy risk assessments, data‑subject request handling, and incident response coordination. - Familiarity with privacy governance tools and record‑keeping systems. **Required Education & Certifications** - Law degree (LLB or equivalent). - Admission as a solicitor in England & Wales or equivalent qualification in another jurisdiction. - Additional privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM) are advantageous but not mandatory.
