Job title: Freelance Payroll Manager – Quebec Role Summary: Provide bi‑weekly payroll services for multiple small‑to‑mid‑size Quebec‑based clients in a fully remote, contract‑style arrangement. Ensure 100 % compliance with Quebec payroll legislation, manage payroll systems (Nethris, QuickBooks), maintain HRIS leave balances, and act as a payroll subject‑matter expert. Expactations: - 20 hrs/month of payroll processing and client support. - Independent contractor status with invoicing of services rendered. - Remote work, 100 % teleworking. Key Responsibilities: - Process bi‑weekly payroll for all client accounts. - Ensure compliance with CNESST, Revenu Québec, source deductions, government remittances, and year‑end requirements. - Administer payroll using Nethris and QuickBooks, meeting all deadlines. - Update and maintain employee vacation/leave balances in HRIS, ensuring consistency with payroll data. - Serve as payroll consultant, answering client inquiries and resolving payroll discrepancies. - Maintain accurate payroll files, documentation compliant with audit standards. - Stay current on Quebec payroll legislation changes and best practices. Required Skills: - 7–10 + years of practical payroll experience in Quebec. - Proven bi‑weekly payroll management for small‑to‑mid‑size organizations. - Deep knowledge of Quebec payroll laws and compliance. - Hands‑on experience with Nethris and QuickBooks payroll modules. - Strong self‑management, deadline adherence, and precision. - Bilingual proficiency in French and English (written and spoken). - Comfortable working as an independent contractor, including invoicing. Required Education & Certifications: - Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. - Certifications such as CPA, CPE, or equivalent not mandatory but a plus.
