Job Description
Job title: Snowflake Platform Engineer Role Summary: Contract (9‑12 months) role focused on designing, developing, and maintaining end‑to‑end data pipelines that bridge on‑prem Oracle systems with Snowflake cloud data warehouse. The engineer will use SQL, Python, dbt, and orchestration tools to ensure scalable, reliable, and secure data flows. Expectations: Own the full data pipeline lifecycle; produce clean, maintainable code; deliver on reliability, security, and performance targets; collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions; quickly prototype and iterate on data architectures. Key Responsibilities: - Design and implement data ingestion, transformation, and loading pipelines between Oracle and Snowflake. - Write efficient SQL queries and Python scripts for data extraction, cleansing, and enrichment. - Utilize dbt for modular, versioned transformations and testing. - Configure and maintain orchestration of pipelines (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, or Snowflake Tasks). - Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot failures, and optimize performance. - Document architecture, code, and operational procedures for knowledge transfer. - Ensure data security, governance, and compliance across the pipeline. Required Skills: - Strong expertise in Snowflake (data modeling, performance tuning, security). - Advanced SQL proficiency; experience writing complex queries. - Python programming for data workflows (pandas, airflow, etc.). - Familiarity with dbt for data transformation and testing. - On‑prem Oracle experience is highly desirable. - Knowledge of modern orchestration and workflow tools. - Ability to work independently and translate business requirements into technical deliverables. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field. - Snowflake Certified Data Engineer or equivalent certification preferred.
