Job Description
Job Title: Manager, Security & Emergency Preparedness Role Summary: Lead security operations and emergency preparedness for a university campus, ensuring protection of people, property, and continuity of operations. Manage staff, contractors, budgets, and emergency plans to maintain a safe and resilient environment. Expectations: - Oversee daily security functions for on‑campus and off‑site locations. - Coordinate emergency plans, drills, and crisis response. - Maintain security infrastructure and systems. - Manage budgets, contracts, and procurement. - Foster relationships with internal stakeholders and external emergency services. Key Responsibilities: - Provide leadership and direction to security personnel and contractors. - Plan and execute security coverage for events, ceremonies, and major activities. - Investigate incidents, produce reports, and recommend improvements. - Develop and maintain threat assessments, emergency response plans, and business continuity plans. - Conduct regular exercises and trainings to test and refine preparedness. - Serve as senior security advisor to campus leadership and stakeholders. - Oversee access control, surveillance systems, parking, and mass notification tools. - Prepare and manage budgets, purchase orders, and funding proposals. - Build and sustain partnerships with local emergency agencies and campus units. Required Skills: - Emergency planning and management expertise. - Strong leadership and supervisory skills. - Budget management and contract administration. - Crisis decision‑making and sound judgment. - Effective verbal and written communication. - Interpersonal diplomacy and relationship building. - Analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Required Education & Certifications: - Post‑secondary training in security, emergency management, or related field. - Minimum 3 years of emergency planning or emergency management experience. - Additional security field experience and budget management experience are advantageous.
