Capital Planning & Operations is a team of approximately 130 employees that take tremendous pride in the campus and deliver exceptional service that supports the University of New Brunswick's mission, vision, and values. Security is responsible for the protection of the people (faculty, staff, students and visitors), property and assets of the University of New Brunswick. Security is a bi-campus unit that must be staffed all hours of the day and all hours of the week including weekends and holidays as a 24/7/365 service.

Salary Range: $71,576 - $97,550 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director of Security, the Manager of Security & Emergency Preparedness oversees security operations on the Saint John campus and the security needs of the Moncton site. This position ensures all of UNB has proper emergency plans and business continuity plans. The Manager also ensures that these plans are exercised on an annual or semi-annual basis as a means of continuous improvement and to solidify UNB's readiness to deal with a crisis.

Provide leadership for Security Services on the Saint John campus, overseeing daily operations, staff, contractors, and campus security priorities.
Plan and coordinate security coverage for campus events, ceremonies, and major activities, including parking and traffic support.
Lead security incident response, investigations, follow-up, and reporting for the Saint John campus.
Manage security operations for university buildings and assets on and off campus, including downtown Saint John locations.
Develop and maintain emergency preparedness programs, including threat and risk assessments, emergency response plans, exercises, and crisis management training.
Support university leadership in emergency planning and business continuity to ensure operational resilience.
Serve as the senior security advisor and primary point of contact for the Saint John campus, providing guidance to students, staff, faculty, and leadership.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with external emergency services and internal campus partners.
Oversee security systems and infrastructure, including access control, cameras, keys, records management, parking systems, and mass notification tools.
Manage financial and contractual responsibilities, including budgets, purchasing, security contracts, and funding proposals.

What You Bring

Post Secondary Training in a related field, including training in emergency planning/emergency management.
3+ years experience in emergency planning and/or emergency management,
A combination of education and training may be considered.

Additional Strengths

Experience in a security-related field is considered an asset.
Experience with budget management is considered an asset.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in high-pressure and emergency situations.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
Proven leadership skills in supervising teams, coordinating contractors, and managing complex operations.
Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective working relationships through diplomacy and discretion.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risk, address incidents, and drive continuous improvement.
