Job Description
Job Title: Concept & Merchandising Associate Role Summary: Supports design, product development, operations, creative and marketing to produce trend‑aligned, high‑margin apparel assortments. Balances creative vision with commercial goals, driving concept planning, product development, launch coordination and cross‑functional communication. Expectations: · Deliver data‑driven concepts that meet margin and revenue targets for a Gen‑Z focused brand. · Operate independently while collaborating across multiple functions. · Maintain a merchandising calendar and manage the concept development process from research to final product. · Travel domestically and internationally as required. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and maintain the merchandising calendar, aligning seasonal trends, cultural moments and business priorities. - Lead the monthly concept development, translating trend insights, social listening and market analysis into clear product directions. - Create concept decks that define product vision, styling, key items, storytelling and alignment with brand identity and revenue goals. - Identify white‑space opportunities through trend research, competitive landscape and consumer insights. - Partner with Design and Product Development to translate concept into commercially viable products, selecting key looks, hero pieces, silhouettes, category mix and pricing strategy. - Track product development progress to ensure concept vision is executed from ideation to final product. - Provide merchandising support for retail stores, ensuring product selection and assortment consistency. - Collaborate with Creative and Marketing to ensure concept storytelling is reflected across campaigns, content and site merchandising. - Coordinate cross‑functional alignment (Design, Production, Operations, Creative, Marketing) for successful product launches. Required Skills: - 2+ years in merchandising, buying, trend forecasting or concept design within fast‑fashion or contemporary apparel. - Strategic thinking with tactical execution capability. - Strong communication, presentation and problem‑solving skills; ability to defend data‑driven decisions. - Self‑starter attitude and ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented environment. - Commitment to follow‑through from concept to sell‑through. - Advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel; experience with PLM or ERP systems preferred. - In‑depth knowledge of U.S. market and Gen‑Z consumer behavior. - Mandarin proficiency is a plus. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Marketing, Business, Design or related field. - Professional certifications in merchandising, trend forecasting or design are advantageous but not mandatory.
