Job title: Business Development Lead – Municipal Water
Role Summary:
Lead the expansion of Veolia’s municipal water business across the UK by creating compelling value propositions, securing new contracts, and nurturing senior stakeholder relationships. Work cross‑functionally with technical, operational, commercial, financial, legal, and HR teams to design and deliver winning solutions, while maintaining a robust pipeline, accurate reporting, and strict governance.
Expactations:
- Deliver measurable growth in market share and revenue within municipal water and water company sectors.
- Build and manage a high‑quality pipeline of new business opportunities, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Maintain compliance with corporate governance and delegation of authority frameworks.
- Provide timely insights and market intelligence to senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute account strategies for key municipal and water company accounts, driving organic service growth.
- Lead bid and tender process: crafting proposals, managing pricing models, and presenting to senior client stakeholders.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Technical, Operations, PMO, Commercial, Finance, Legal, HR) to co‑design and deliver solutions that meet client needs.
- Capture and analyse market trends, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence; share insights in internal market working groups.
- Grow and manage the new‑business pipeline using Salesforce CRM, fostering relationships with senior municipal decision‑makers and external industry groups.
- Collaborate with marketing to develop targeted prospecting plans using digital and social media channels.
- Support cross‑sell initiatives, ensuring integrated service deliveries and maximizing ROI for won opportunities.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience in business development within waste, water, energy, or facilities management sectors.
- Successful track record of winning tenders, bids, and multi‑year contracts.
- Strong stakeholder management and influence skills at senior levels.
- Commercial acumen, financial modelling, and understanding of pricing strategies.
- Ability to operate effectively in a large, matrixed organization.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation capabilities.
- Knowledge of water sector services, operational and technical aspects, and sustainability goals.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or related field.
- Professional certification in sales, project management, or a relevant industry qualification is an advantage.
