Job Description: **Job title**: Industrial / Summer Placement – Civil Engineer **Role Summary**: Short‑term placement for undergraduate Civil/Structural Engineering students to work with experienced engineers on design, analysis, and reporting for real engineering projects. Develop technical, commercial, and project management skills in a fast‑paced environment. **Expactations**: - Deliver accurate designs, calculations and technical reports within agreed timelines. - Apply relevant design codes (e.g., British Standards, Eurocodes) correctly. - Maintain quality standards and comply with quality assurance processes. - Communicate progress clearly with project stakeholders. - Show initiative, adaptability, and a proactive attitude. **Key Responsibilities**: - Assist in the preparation of engineering designs, calculations and technical drawings. - Support development of specifications and report documentation. - Attend site visits and surveys under supervision. - Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation for drafting. - Contribute to project scheduling, cost planning and budget tracking. - Participate in training and professional development activities. **Required Skills**: - Strong written and verbal communication in English. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Basic knowledge of engineering analysis and design software. - Attention to detail and adherence to QA procedures. - Ability to multitask, prioritise and work independently or in a team. **Required Education & Certifications**: - Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ICE or IStructE accredited course. - Minimum of 2 years of undergraduate study. - Commitment to continuous professional development. (Driving licence and familiarity with Autodesk/Bentley software are advantageous but not mandatory.)
