Job Title: Database Administrator
Role Summary:
Responsible for administering, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise database systems across on-premises and cloud environments. Provide high‑availability, disaster recovery, security, and automation support for mission‑critical data platforms.
Expectations:
- Must hold a valid NATO Secret, EU SECRET, or equivalent national clearance level or higher.
- Work full‑time on‑site, supporting cloud transformation, HA/DR, and system upgrades.
- Contribute to security, compliance, and operational continuity within a defense‑related context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server (On‑Premises & Azure SQL), Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL.
- Support migrations from on‑premises to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure SQL).
- Design and implement HA/DR architectures, backup strategies, and clustering/replication.
- Monitor database performance, produce technical reports, and proactively resolve issues.
- Manage lifecycle activities, upgrades, patching, and roadmap alignment.
- Develop automation and tooling using PowerShell, CI/CD pipelines, and Ansible.
- Support reporting and analytics technologies such as PowerBI, SSRS/SSIS, Oracle Analytics, Grafana.
- Interact with middleware (WebLogic, Apache, Tomcat, ORDS) and operating systems (Linux/UNIX, Windows Server).
Required Skills:
- Deep knowledge of relational database administration (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with Azure SQL, cloud migration, and hybrid environments.
- Proficiency in HA/DR design, clustering, replication, and virtualization.
- Automation and scripting: PowerShell, Ansible, CI/CD concepts.
- Familiarity with reporting tools: PowerBI, SSRS, SSIS, Oracle BI Stack (OBIEE, ODI, OAS).
- Ability to monitor with Grafana and other performance tools.
- Strong security mindset and understanding of compliance frameworks.
- Excellent problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Relevant certifications preferred: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCA), or equivalent.
- Valid NATO Secret, EU SECRET, or equivalent security clearance.
