Job Description
**Job title:** Data Privacy Business Partner **Role Summary:** Acts as a privacy subject‑matter expert supporting the Group DPO to maintain and enhance the organization’s global data protection framework. Ensures compliance with UK GDPR, EU GDPR and other applicable privacy laws while embedding privacy‑by‑design principles across business units. **Expectations:** - Minimum 5 years of experience in data privacy within a multinational setting. - Deep knowledge of UK GDPR, EU GDPR and international privacy frameworks. - Proven ability to manage DSARs, DPIAs, breach responses, ROPAs, and data protection audits. - Strong analytical, risk‑based approach and capacity to translate legal requirements into practical business guidance. - Excellent stakeholder engagement across diverse cultures and functions. - Experience with privacy‑related standards such as ISO 27701 (desirable). **Key Responsibilities:** 1. **Governance & Framework** - Maintain and improve the Group Data Protection Framework, policies and procedures. - Support the DPO in reviewing governance structures and ensuring global alignment. - Oversee ROPA management and keep documentation current. - Assist with PIAs/DPIAs, recommending mitigations and control designs. - Deputise for the Group DPO when required. 2. **Operational Data Protection** - Manage DSARs (access, erasure, rectification) and coordinate breach investigation and reporting. - Conduct privacy reviews for new products, systems and suppliers. - Support cross‑border transfer assessments and ensure compliant transfer mechanisms. 3. **Advisory & Collaboration** - First point of contact for business teams seeking privacy advice. - Work with IT, Security, Legal, HR, and Marketing to embed privacy into operations. - Perform privacy due diligence on vendors and processors. - Deliver structured privacy reporting to senior leaders. 4. **Training & Awareness** - Develop and deliver data protection training and awareness campaigns. - Maintain training records and support divisional compliance attestations. 5. **Monitoring & Reporting** - Support privacy audits, assurance reviews and compliance monitoring. - Provide metrics and management information to DPO and leadership. - Respond to regulatory requests and conduct horizon scanning for regulatory changes. **Required Skills:** - Regulatory knowledge: UK GDPR, EU GDPR, global privacy frameworks. - Experience with DSAR management, DPIAs, breach handling, ROPA, and privacy audits. - Familiarity with privacy technologies, IT security controls, data governance tools. - Organizational, analytical, and risk‑based thinking. - Clear communication and stakeholder engagement across functions and cultures. - ISO 27701 or similar standard experience (preferred). **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, Business, or related field (preferred). - Minimum 5 years’ proven data privacy experience. - Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CISM, ISO 27701 Lead Implementer) desirable but not mandatory.
