A Snapshot of Your Day
Under the supervision and support of the laboratory manager, the component analysis engineer will support large scale failure investigations in the state-of-the-art metallurgical laboratory at Siemens-Energy Canada site in Montreal. As part of the metallurgical engineering team in Montreal, their responsibilities extend to all Aeroderivative Gas Turbine products: SGT-A65, SGT-A45, SGT-A35 and power turbines. Project based interaction and support to customers such as: Test Bed Facilities, Product Support Fleet team, Repair Engineering and Supplier Quality.
How You'll Make An Impact
Analyze and define the failed components.
Metallurgical analysis of debris found in the engine per module.
Perform microscopic photography at the request and support the definition on where to section failed components.
Conduct metallographic preparation and material characterization analyzing material properties and structures.
Perform crystallographic analysis using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
Support all activities leading towards the laboratory certification to ISO17025:2017 and write various metallurgical reports.
What You Bring
Engineering degree, metallurgical engineering preferable, OIQ membership mandatory.
Minimum 5 years of relevant technical experience.
Ability to lead meetings and motivate meeting attendees to perform at their highest potential.
Have knowledge of gas turbines and/or industrial equipment, project management and assembly / manufacturing techniques.
Good understanding of component definition drawings related to the design intent in the Engine assembly.
Experience in a customer facing environment is advantageous and ability to effectively communicate with peers, supervisors, and management personnel.
Proven record of working to processes and procedures and ability to evolve and work in a unionized environment.
About The Team
The metallurgical engineering team consists of 1 technician and 2 engineers carry out large-scale and small-scale failure analysis at the request of internal customers. Other activities consist of debris analysis and component life extension projects. The team pulls together in maintain safety within the laboratory and the maintenance of all the equipment.

Sous la supervision et avec le soutien du chef du laboratoire, l'ingenieur en analyse des composants participera aux enquetes de defaillance a grande echelle dans le laboratoire metallurgique de pointe du site de Siemens Energie Canada a Montreal. Au sein de l'equipe d'ingenierie metallurgique de Montreal, ses responsabilites s'etendent a tous les produits lies aux turbines a gaz aeroderivees : SGT-A65, SGT-A45, SGT-A35 et turbines de puissance. L'ingenieur en analyse des composants interagira avec les clients dans le cadre d'un projet et leur apportera un soutien, par exemple : bancs d'essai, equipe de soutien aux produits du parc, ingenierie de reparation et qualite des fournisseurs.
Ce que vous apporterez a l'entreprise
Analyser et definir les composants defaillants.
Faire des analyses metallurgiques des debris trouves dans le moteur par module.
Effectuer des photographies microscopiques a la demande et aider a la definition de l'endroit ou sectionner les composants defaillants.
Assurer la preparation metallographique et la caracterisation des materiaux en analysant les proprietes et les structures des materiaux.
Effectuer des analyses cristallographiques a l'aide de la microscopie electronique a balayage (MEB).
Soutenir toutes les activites menant a la certification du laboratoire selon la norme ISO 17025:2017 et rediger divers rapports metallurgiques.
Ce dont vous avez besoin
Diplome d'ingenieur, de preference en genie metallurgique, et adhesion a l'OIQ obligatoire
Minimum de cinq annees d'experience technique pertinente
Capacite a diriger des reunions et a motiver les participants a la reunion afin qu'ils realisent tout leur potentiel
Connaissance des turbines a gaz et/ou de l'equipement industriel, de la gestion de projet et des techniques d'assemblage / de fabrication
Bonne comprehension des dessins de definition de composants lies a l'intention de concept dans l'assemblage du moteur
Experience dans un environnement en contact avec la clientele, un atout
Capacite a communiquer efficacement avec ses pairs, ses superviseurs et le personnel de gestion
Experience averee en matiere de respect des processus et des procedures, et capacite a evoluer et a travailler dans un environnement syndique
A propos de l'equipe
L'equipe d'ingenierie metallurgique, composee d'un technicien et de deux ingenieurs, effectue des analyses des defaillances a grande et a petite echelle a la demande des clients internes. Les autres activites consistent en des projets d'analyse des debris et de prolongation de la duree de vie des composants. L'equipe se serre les coudes pour assurer la securite au sein du laboratoire et l'entretien de tous les equipements.
