Senior Software Engineer (AI Engineering)

As a Senior Software Engineer - AI Engineering, you'll play a key role in architecting and delivering intelligent systems that are safe, scalable, and truly agent-ready. You'll be at the forefront of AI-native development, helping shape the future of internal tooling, infrastructure, and GenAI-enabled engineering across the organisation.
What You'll Be Doing
Design and build services that power AI agent interaction across the product and engineering toolchain
Apply GenAI to modernise legacy systems -- accelerating, refactoring, and reimagining them
Develop APIs, contracts, and metadata aligned with the Model Context Protocol
Build internal tools and infrastructure that enable an AI-native software development lifecycle
Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional partners on architecture, reliability, and performance
Contribute to design reviews, incident response, and continuous improvement of engineering standards
What We're Looking For
You're a sharp, curious engineer with a passion for real-world AI application and a track record of delivering robust backend systems. You thrive in ambiguity, care about simplicity, and are motivated by impact.
Core Experience:
Strong backend engineering skills and experience working on production-grade systems
A track record of shipping high-quality software at pace, ideally in a fast-moving environment
Ownership mindset -- you take ideas from concept to deployment and support
Exposure to (or interest in) the following is a plus:
Model Context Protocol: managing structured context and tool interfaces for agents
LLM integration patterns: orchestration, tool calling, and chaining logic
Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG): using vector stores to enhance agent context
GenAI-enhanced developer tools such as Cursor, Unblocked, Cody, or similar
