Position Summary

Java Holdings Ltd. is a leader in the Electrical Utilities sector in Canada, United States and Europe. We operate in various industry segments including Power Generation, Electrical Infrastructure Design & Engineering, and Electrical Infrastructure Construction. We are seeking an AI Specialist to bridge the gap between our business leader's needs, impacts of change on end users, and what technical teams can implement and support. This requires problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of both the technical and business aspects of AI.

The AI Specialist role is a new position in the Java Group of Companies, one which will carry a diversity of responsibilities and require the individual to draw from a variety of disciplines in their work, including:

Strategic thinking, planning, and leadership - working closely with senior management throughout the Java Group of Companies to develop AI strategies and plans which support the broader Systems Strategy, IT Strategy and Operational Systems.
Business Analysis - understanding business processes and the systems that support them and identifying AI technologies that will support continued improvement in execution efficiency and cost
Project Management - planning, leading, and guiding implementation of AI technologies.
Technical Skills - a depth of knowledge in areas of data science, machine learning, software development /coding

This role reports directly to the Director of Systems at Java Holdings Ltd. It is a full-time office-based position located in Edmonton, AB. Travel within Canada, United States and Europe may be required from time to time.

Core Responsibilities

AI Leadership with the Executive teams of the companies in the Java Group
Development of AI Policy
Development of AI Strategy
Evaluation of current processes and systems to Identify potential applications of AI to enhance efficiency and reduce costs - short term, medium term, long term
Creating frameworks and roadmaps for the deployment and use of AI-driven systems throughout the Java Group
Leading identification, selection and implementation of AI technologies
Working with technical teams from Java Systems and Java IT to turn potential solutions into reality
Work with business leaders to oversee and ensure implementation across departments within the company, aligning the projects with business objectives
Monitor progress, manage change, and evaluate the impact of AI solutions

Requirements

Degree in Computer Sciences and /or technology development
Diploma, Certificate or Degree and other specialized AI training
Work experience in the areas of software development/ coding, technical infrastructure and machine learning
Formal Project Management training /PMP Designation
AI specific work experience with a track record of successfully leveraging AI in business
Roles in Business Leadership and Strategy Development
