Technical Architect/Lead Developer - Systematic Hedge Fund
Location: London | Full-Time | Hybrid | Core Engineering Leadership
A fast-moving systematic hedge fund in London is looking for a hands-on Technical Architect/Lead Developer to take ownership of the design and delivery of its front-to-back trading technology platform. This is a leadership role where you'll shape the fund's technical strategy while staying deeply involved in the code and architecture.
You'll work across trading, data, and operational teams, building resilient, scalable systems that sit at the heart of the business. This is a rare opportunity to combine hands-on engineering with strategic influence in a lean, high-performance environment.
What You'll Do
Lead end-to-end development of trading and operational systems - from architecture to implementation
Be the go-to technical leader across all projects, guiding a growing team of developers
Build clean, scalable systems using .NET or Python, with a focus on performance and integrity
Architect and maintain robust ETL pipelines, including high-volume financial data (tick data, reference data, etc.)
Drive adoption of cloud-native technologies and DevOps best practices
Design and support security infrastructure to protect critical systems
Present and communicate technical strategy to senior stakeholders across the business
What You'll Bring
7+ years of software development experience in asset management or hedge fund environments
Strong coding skills in either .NET or Python, with a deep understanding of the full SDLC
Proven experience designing and delivering trading and Back Office systems
Experience building and maintaining financial data pipelines (ETL, tick data processing)
Working knowledge of modern database systems and data modelling
A strategic mindset, but with the hands-on skill set to build what you envision
Comfortable communicating complex ideas to both technical teams and business leaders
