Principal PHP Developer (Magento/Laravel)
Location: West Yorkshire (Hybrid)
Length: 3 months
Rate: Up to PS425/day (Outside IR35)
Start: ASAP
An established eCommerce business is seeking a Principal PHP Developer on a contract basis to take ownership of technical delivery across its platform. You'll be hands-on with Magento, while also guiding a distributed development team to deliver clean, scalable code.
Key Responsibilities
Write and review high-quality PHP/Magento (and Laravel) code
Lead daily stand-ups, unblock devs, and drive team velocity
Review and mentor junior/mid-level developers
Coordinate with offshore teams
Oversee deployment processes across AWS, DigitalOcean, or Azure
Support performance tuning and DB optimisation (MySQL, MS SQL)
Tech Stack
PHP, Laravel, Magento
MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server
Git, CI/CD
Cloud platforms: AWS, DigitalOcean, Azure
Ideal Experience
Strong full-stack PHP experience Magento.
Experience with Laravel would be very beneficial
Background in high-volume eCommerce or SaaS environments
Confident leading agile workflows and code reviews
Comfortable working in fast-paced, production-critical setups
