Job Specifications

My client is a tech startup who offer automation of key fund processes for investment funds lawyers. They are looking to appoint a Legal Technologist who can be the nexus between tech and legal, supporting the business in how to implement AI, understanding tech, assist in building new features and automate functions for lawyers.

Reporting to the Head of Growth and Head of Product Development, the Legal Technologist will be an integral part of the legal team. Working closely with the Growth and Product Development teams, you will play a key role in supporting private investment fund operations at customer law firms by managing and enhancing the company's legal technology platform.

Key responsibilities:

Observing meetings with prospective and existing customers to demonstrate the platform.
Gathering feedback and scoping new feature requests.
Support the software development teams to prioritise and manage customer requests, track deadlines for feature delivery and test new features and resolve bug fixes.
Preparing analytics and summarising platform insights
Drafting and distributing release notes for each platform version.
Assists in-house legal with commercial contract review, employment contract review, NDA review and general corporate matters, including fundraising and investor relations.

Ideal candidate

Recognised Law degree or the GDL
Substantive legal work experience in private investment funds.
Strong project management and sound judgment skills are necessary.
Extensive experience utilising legal technology in transaction management.
Strong analytical, detail orientation, interpersonal skills and organisational skills are essential.
Ability to use initiative, anticipate needs, act without direction, ask questions and take responsibility for tasks.
Ability to organise and prioritise numerous tasks and complete them accurately and thoroughly undertime constraints.
Willing to seek challenges, take over difficult or unconventional projects and be able to take on projects at any stage.
Flexibility to work paid overtime due to the nature of the work.
Must be numerate and proficient in MS Word, MS Powerpoint and MS Excel.
Familiarity with basic coding or scripting (e.g., Python, VBA, or similar) to support workflow automation and data management is desirable.

This is a junior role that would suit someone at paralegal level who worked in a funds environment and has a passion for legal tech and process, but who is looking for a different career path rather than qualifying as a solicitor.
