Description (W2 Contract)

We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer in Detroit, MI or Charlotte, NC to join our growing technology team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring that our applications meet the highest standards of quality by embedding test automation and shift-left testing practices throughout the software development lifecycle. You will work closely with developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams to drive test automation in our CI/CD pipeline and enable zero-defect releases.

Key Responsibilities

Foster a quality-first culture to prevent defects from reaching production.
Collaborate across teams to adopt enterprise quality processes and standards.
Implement shift-left testing strategies as the organization rearchitects technology platforms.
Partner with DevOps to fully automate testing within the CI/CD pipeline.
Leverage leading automation frameworks and tools across all levels of testing.
Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and ensure customer experience is prioritized during testing.
Take part in product design reviews to embed quality practices into the SDLC.
Document and manage test environment strategies, including test data management.
Analyze user stories and requirements to design and automate comprehensive test coverage.

Qualifications

6+ years of experience in QA automation with UI and API testing.
BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).

Required Skills

Proficiency coding in JavaScript ES6/TypeScript.
Hands-on experience with Cucumber BDD (Gherkin syntax).
Strong knowledge of Node.js or other JavaScript runtime environments.
Experience with CI/CD tools and technologies: Git, GitLab, Docker.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Jest, or other automation libraries.
Knowledge of Salesforce APIs (JSforce) and SOQL.
Familiarity with tools such as REST-assured, Postman, SoapUI, CA DevTest, Swagger Hub.
Experience automating API testing, including use of mocks, stubs, and virtual services.
Background in financial services technology or consumer banking testing.
Knowledge of AWS, REST services, and testing across the full solution stack.
Exposure to Salesforce Lightning CRM and Open Span (Pega Systems) for contact center services.

Additional Expertise

Strong understanding of ATDD, TDD, and BDD practices.
Ability to train and mentor testers in automation scripting and best practices.
Proven troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for breaking code.
