Sanderson Government and Defence are working with a leading digital consultancy who have been selected as a strategic delivery partner for a government agency's transformation programme.

They are looking for a Lead Technical Architect to join the a high-profile initiative aimed at modernising legacy systems and improving data validation across the client's business gateway.

This is a fully remote role, working within a blended agile team of consultancy and end client staff. You'll be responsible for shaping technical direction, leading architectural design, and ensuring alignment with the end client's reference architecture.

To be considered, you'll need:

Strong background in technical architecture within large-scale digital programmes
Deep understanding of API Gateway design and enhancement
Experience modernising legacy systems and migrating to cloud-native platforms
Solid grasp of AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, S3, VPC)
Familiarity with Java, DB2, relational databases, and network concepts

Desirable experience includes:

OpenAPI schemas, Kubernetes, Spring Boot, JBOSS/EJB, Postgres, Python
Prior work within UK government departments
Ability to mentor and lead technical teams

This is a key role in a multi-disciplinary agile team, contributing to high-level and low-level designs, architectural governance, and knowledge transfer across the end client's internal teams.
