Job Title: Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $125,000 - $150,000 / year

Overview:

We are seeking a Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer to design, build, and optimize a reporting solution leveraging Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Synapse, and Power BI. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise across the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem, be able to handle the full project lifecycle from architecture to deployment, and deliver high-performance, scalable analytics solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Design scalable and cost-effective reporting solutions leveraging Cosmos DB, Azure Synapse, and Power BI.
Configure Azure Synapse Link for Cosmos DB containers and build efficient data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and reporting.
Develop and optimize T-SQL views in Synapse Serverless SQL Pools.
Build advanced Power BI reports and dashboards, including data models, DAX measures, and visualizations.
Ensure performance optimization across Synapse queries and Power BI datasets for efficient refresh and reporting.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver meaningful insights.

Required Experience & Skills:

Azure Cosmos DB: Strong knowledge of Cosmos DB (NoSQL APIs, querying unstructured JSON data).
Azure Synapse Analytics: Proficiency in Synapse Link for Cosmos DB, Synapse Serverless SQL Pools, and Azure Data Factory pipelines.
Power BI: Expertise in data modeling (star schemas), DAX, Power Query (M Language), and interactive dashboard/report design.
SQL: Strong SQL skills for querying and manipulating data.

Nice to Have:

Experience working with large-scale datasets and optimizing solutions for performance and cost.
Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with Spark Pools and PySpark for advanced data transformations.
