Job Specifications

Job Title: Backend Java Developer

Location: O'Fallon - Hybrid - 3 days/week

Term: Short term contract plus conversion to fulltime

At least 10+ years of extensive hands-on experience in Java development, with a strong focus on J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition). This includes proficiency in building enterprise-level applications, applying advanced design patterns, and ensuring performance tuning and optimization for large-scale systems.
A solid background in working with multi-threaded applications, memory management, and high-volume transaction processing will be highly valuable.
Hands-on experience with a wide range of modern tools and frameworks such as: Nifi for data ingestion and flow management, NATS and Kafka for event-driven architectures, messaging, and streaming, Zookeeper for distributed coordination. Cassandra as a scalable NoSQL database for distributed data storage.
Proven expertise in designing and developing web services with a focus on microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
The candidate must understand best practices for building loosely coupled, scalable, and resilient distributed systems. This requires knowledge of service discovery, API versioning, security (OAuth2, JWT), load balancing, and container orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
Exposure to both OLTP and OLAP systems would be an advantage.
Practical working knowledge of deploying and maintaining applications on major cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Experience with designing cloud-native solutions that leverage elasticity, resilience, and high availability is required. Familiarity with PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry) or equivalent PaaS solutions is a strong plus, along with knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and monitoring cloud environments.
Deep understanding of modern software engineering principles and methodologies, including SOLID, Design principles etc.
