Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to lead the development and delivery of innovative financial technology solutions. In this role, you will own the product lifecycle end-to-end -- from requirements gathering to launch -- ensuring alignment with business objectives, compliance standards, and customer needs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders, and contribute to strategic initiatives that help Canadians manage their day-to-day banking with our financial partners.
Key Responsibilities
Product Backlog Management
Define, prioritize, and groom Epics, User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria.
Ensure backlog items are aligned with business goals and customer needs.
Collaborate with stakeholders and development teams to refine requirements and maintain a clear product vision.
Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and development teams.
Gather, prioritize, and integrate feedback into the product roadmap.
Provide regular updates to the governance board, highlighting successes, impediments, and required changes.
Agile Delivery & Sprint Oversight
Lead sprint planning sessions and ensure clarity on priorities.
Oversee sprint execution, reviews, and demos while gathering feedback.
Adjust backlog and priorities based on outcomes and business direction.
Product Launch & Support
Collaborate with Sales & Marketing teams on go-to-market strategies and product launches.
Provide expertise for creating marketing materials, sales tools, and training content.
Ensure smooth adoption of product features across stakeholders and customers.
What You Bring
Domain Expertise
Strong background in financial services, banking, or FinTech (digital banking, payments, lending, or core banking).
Ability to translate complex financial requirements into actionable product features.
Knowledge of industry regulations, compliance, and customer behavior.
Technical & Business Acumen
Familiarity with Agile delivery, JIRA, Confluence, and Microsoft 365.
Strong understanding of metrics for profitability, cost-effectiveness, and product performance.
Proven ability to align product strategy with organizational goals.
Leadership & Collaboration
Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams without direct authority.
Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience driving products from concept through to launch.
Problem-Solving & Change Management
Data-driven decision-making and prioritization skills.
Ability to manage changing scope, timelines, and priorities effectively.
Skilled at identifying risks, resolving challenges, and driving continuous improvement.
Qualifications
5-10 years of experience as a Product Owner or in Product Management.
Experience in financial services and FinTech preferred.
Relevant certifications highly desirable:
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO)
SAFe POPM
