Location: Edinburgh, UK (Hybrid)

Type: Contract / Permanent (depending on engagement)

Experience: 10-12 years hands-on experience

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Customer Support Engineers with strong expertise in the Smallworld Product Suite and related GIS technologies. This role involves working on asset mapping, application development, and testing for a major utilities programme. You will play a key part in delivering GIS solutions, integrating third-party systems, and supporting business-critical applications used across multiple domains.

This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your skills across diverse technologies while contributing to high-impact utility projects.

Key Responsibilities

Analysis, design, coding, implementation, and testing of GIS applications.
Provide technical documentation and maintain continuous communication with stakeholders.
Client coordination and support for project delivery.
Work on asset mapping and application enhancements within a utility-focused environment.
Support integrations with third-party systems and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Required Skills

Strong proficiency in Smallworld Product Suite (latest versions), including PNI / Electric Office.
Hands-on experience with Magik.
Proven expertise in delivering GIS solutions using Smallworld tools.
Solid technical knowledge across relevant platforms: PNI, Core SW4/5, EO, GDO, GTO, GSS, GSA, DM, MES, NRM, K8, Magik, Java, SWMFS DBA, VMDS, SQL, Oracle.
Experience with customer-specific customisation, local regulatory requirements, and third-party product integration.

Desirable Skills

Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Experience with ESRI ArcGIS products.
Familiarity with OpenGIS standards.
