About The Role

Are you a STEM student looking to apply your analytical skills in a dynamic, data-driven environment? Hampshire Trust Bank is offering a 13-month internship designed to immerse you in real-world Credit Risk Analytics, Risk Reporting, Model Validation, and Credit Risk Modelling projects that shape decision-making across the bank.

You'll work in small, collaborative teams where your voice matters and your curiosity is celebrated. Whether you're passionate about data science, financial services, or simply love solving problems, this internship will help you grow your skills and confidence.

You'll be joining a supportive team where learning is encouraged, and each intern will have an individual mentor to help them develop.

The proposed start-date for the internship is June 2026.

What You'll Be Doing

Analysing customer and product data to support decision-making
Producing key reports for internal and external stakeholders
Validating financial models to ensure accuracy and reliability
Learning from experienced professionals in a supportive environment
Contributing to real projects that impact the bank's performance
Making a positive impact on customers and the business through data-driven decisions

You'll Thrive If You Are

Studying a degree that helps you develop quantitative or logical reasoning skills - this could be in STEM, Economics, or any other discipline with a strong analytical component.
Organised, self-motivated, eager to learn, and keen to apply your academic knowledge to real-world financial challenges.
A clear communicator who can explain complex ideas in simple terms.
Comfortable working with numbers and keen to develop your skills in data analysis and risk assessment.
Detail-oriented, curious, and rigorous.
Proficient in Excel and familiar with at least one programming language.
Willing to learn SAS (Statistical Analysis System) - you'll be fully supported by professionals.
A methodical problem-solver who uses logic and analysis to reach sound conclusions.
Able to spot patterns and trends in data and use them to support clear, evidence-based decisions.
