Summary:

Join a cutting-edge neurotechnology organization in the Bay Area that is focused on developing AI-driven solutions to enhance autonomy for people with disabilities. Searching for an experienced AI Scientist to spearhead the creation and adaptation of large language models that translate sensor data into actionable outputs. This role centers on advanced model customization and development, with an emphasis on handling complex, multimodal signals.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead efforts to build, modify, and optimize large language models tailored for brain-computer interface systems.
Investigate and implement novel tokenization and embedding strategies suitable for neural signal processing and multimodal data fusion.
Engineer compact and high-performance models capable of running on portable or real-time platforms.
Work hand-in-hand with interdisciplinary teams including neuroscientists and engineers to ensure seamless integration of models with hardware and data acquisition systems.
Perform in-depth analysis of transformer-based architectures to diagnose and address model limitations.
Translate cutting-edge research into practical applications using proprietary neural datasets.
Uphold rigorous documentation, version tracking, and reproducibility practices for model development workflows.
Support the establishment of quality and safety standards for AI components within medical-grade products.

Qualifications:

A minimum of three years' experience applying machine learning techniques with a focus on large language models.
Demonstrated ability to fine-tune, dissect, and customize transformer models for specialized tasks.
Strong coding expertise in Python and PyTorch, with substantial experience deploying models on GPU infrastructure.
Practical experience working with time series, sensor-derived, or multimodal datasets.
Academic background including a Bachelor's degree with significant relevant work experience, or an advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in computer science, neuroscience, machine learning, or related quantitative fields.
