Lead Founding Engineer / Staff Software Engineer - Python & AI

Hybrid - London (flexible remote) | PS100-PS150k + meaningful equity

What You'll Do

Design, build, and scale a production-grade AI platform that automates complex, real-world workflows.
Architect and deploy agentic systems that reason, act and learn, not just call APIs.
Lead and grow a small, senior engineering team across the UK and Europe.
Stay hands-on: write code, review PRs, ship weekly.
Work directly with the founders to set product direction and technical vision.
Define the engineering standards and architecture that support scale.

What You'll Bring

Proven experience building agentic or autonomous AI systems - LLM orchestration, fine-tuning, retrieval, embeddings, or similar.
Strong experience with Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL.
Solid AWS knowledge - Lambda, RDS, Bedrock, S3.
Experience leading or mentoring small, high-performing teams.
Startup mentality: you move fast, make decisions, and take ownership.
A deep, practical understanding of how to deliver AI into production.

Nice to have:

LangChain, Bedrock or other open-source agent frameworks.
Background in payments, workflow automation or data-heavy systems.
Experience scaling something from 0-1.

It's also probably important to say that there is a clear growth path into Head of Engineering or CTO as the business scales.
