My client is a top tier energy trading firm that is looking for a strong C#/SQL/ Azure back end Engineer to come on board on a 6 month rolling contract.

The Data team is responsible for providing business solutions aimed at extracting value from large amounts of data. It covers a broad range of activities such as collecting market data and building related analysis tools, processing of real-time data streams, data governance and machine learning.

The role is part of project aimed at modernizing the gas analysis data platform, from data ingestion to transformation and consumption by the end users. The successful candidate will play a key role in redesigning core components and ensuring the new system meets the demand of a fast growing business unit.

Main responsibilities

* Work as a member of the dedicated project team

* Be responsible for end-to-end delivery of functionality from analysis and solution design through to implementation and release

* Participate in agile processes and ceremonies as part of ongoing delivery

* Review code of other developers

* Liaise with the main project stakeholders

* Collaborate with other teams such as architects, IT Security, Platform Ops, Data Support to ensure the target system satisfies the companies guidelines and best practices

Required skills and experience

Proven experience working with all of

* Strong Microsoft C#.net knowledge (mainly backend development) with few years of commercial .net development experience

* Containerized application development and deployment

* Strong database experience SQL Server and analytical databases

* Good development practices such as test automation, IOC, SOLID principles, logging and monitoring

Desirable but not essential skills and experience

Experience with Clickhouse
Experience working with open data formats such as parquet
Automated continuous integration pipelines including automated deployment
Agile development (Scrum preferred)
Azure Dev-Ops (Team Foundation Server) for continuous integration, automated test execution and source code management (GIT) * Authentication/OAUTH2
