Hawkwood are excited to partner with a progressive, tech-forward PR firm to hire their first Head of People in the US. Their client portfolio spans early stage AI companies to the world's most recognisable technology brands.

Our client is an employee owned business that truly values and prioritizes its people.

This is a new role that will suit someone who has previously worked in a professional services firm (PR + marketing agencies, management consultancies etc) in an agile, dynamic HR team.

The range of responsibilities means you must be comfortable taking ownership of global, strategic projects as well as being hands-on and detail oriented in the day-to-day.

They have also enjoyed 20% headcount growth year on year; there is lots of opportunity to build, design, and grow US operations alongside senior leadership.

Your Responsibilities:

Partner with senior leaders to deliver a People strategy that supports growth and performance across offices in NYC and SF.
Lead performance, pay, and learning programs tailored to US teams.
Shape an outstanding employee experience from onboarding to development.
Provide trusted guidance on employee relations, performance, and compliance.
Oversee US People operations including benefits, payroll, and local employment law.

About you:

Proven experience leading/building a People/HR function for a scaling organization (100+ employees).
Entrepreneurial spirit; you are a 'doer' and agree that there is no task too big or too small.
Deep understanding of US employment law (NY & CA experience preferred).
Polished communicator who easily builds trust across teams and levels.
Experienced in performance management, compensation design, and L&D.
Collaborative, proactive, and passionate about creating inclusive workplaces.

Good to know:

Hybrid role - 3 days per week in office
Salary range - $160 - $180k base
Biannual bonus
26 days' annual leave plus public holidays and closure between Christmas and New Year
