Salary: PS70,000 - 80,000

Bonus: TBC

This is a hybrid role that requires 3 days a week office attendance

About the Company

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Java Engineer to be part of a highly innovative forward thinking online challenger bank start-up funded by a major fund. You will be based remotely and from our London office

You will be joining a small but experienced team building up the functionality of a bespoke best-of-breed banking technology, a single platform delivering loan issue, card issue and recovery.

We're looking for an exceptional Senior Java Engineer who will work closely with the Java Team Lead & CTO as we scale up and modernise our business processes and tech stack.

The role includes hands-on development, mentoring other developers, driving code review processes as well as working with the CTO to define the technical architecture and integration requirements for the solution.

Key Skill Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

5+ years commercial or similar experience
Architected, designed, and led development of a microservices solution using Spring Boot
Experience of Docker and AWS (ideally EventBridge & SQS)
Experience of implementing RESTful web services
Experience of unit testing using Junit, mocking frameworks and integration testing
Experience of deploying into and using AWS services including VPC, EC2, RDS, API Gateway
Experience of deploying and using industry standard development tools including Swagger, Jenkins

You will have a strong desire to work in a start-up / scale-up environment with a delivery focused approach to problem solving.

You will be a born problem solver, keen to dig into the technology supporting our business and demonstrating high standards of professionalism and integrity throughout the working day.

You will be equally comfortable mentoring colleagues through technical detail as well as rolling your sleeves up and leading from the front.
