Location: Sheffield (Hybrid working available)

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

A respected not-for-profit organisation based in Sheffield is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Manager to join its dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity for a finance professional who is passionate about making a difference and contributing to the financial sustainability of a mission-driven organisation.

Role Overview

The Finance Manager will play a key role in overseeing day-to-day financial operations, supporting strategic planning, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Working closely with the Head of Finance, they will manage a small finance team and contribute to the organisation's long-term financial health.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Duties:

Preparation of monthly management accounts and consolidation using Excel.
Reconciliation of balance sheet nominal accounts.
Support in preparing cashflow forecasts and annual statutory accounts.
Liaison with external auditors and production of year-end audit files, including Extended Trial Balance (ETB), lead schedules, and draft accounts.
Management of intercompany recharges and reconciliations.
Assistance with quarterly VAT returns and bank reconciliations.
Oversight of sales and purchase ledgers, weekly payment runs, and payroll authorisations.
Support in budget preparation and financial analysis projects.
Maintenance of company files and fixed asset registers.

Management Duties:

Day-to-day management of the Finance Assistant, including task setting and performance appraisals.

General Duties:

Collaboration with the Head of Finance to identify and resolve issues proactively.
Provision of ad hoc finance and administrative support.
Participation in system improvement projects (Access and Selima), including help desk support and staff training.
Maintenance of grant correspondence files.

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Experience:

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Clear and professional communication skills across all formats.
Experience with Sage Accounts or similar accounting software.
AAT qualification or equivalent experience in a similar finance role.
Excellent time management and ability to work independently.
Analytical mindset with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
Willingness to undertake relevant training to support organisational and personal development.
