Overview

Cloud Engineer

Location: Wakefield UK

The Cloud Engineer will work collaboratively within Aptean's Cloud Teams, reporting directly to the International Tech Hub Manager. They will mentor other team members in the development, deployment, and ongoing monitoring and support of environments for our customers. They will have opportunities to be involved at all stages of a project - covering requirements, cloud services deployment, security and compliance, systems engineering and operational readiness. They will develop and test cloud infrastructure disaster recovery plans before handing off to the appropriate cloud department for annual scheduling. They will bring not only knowledge of core AWS and Azure services but experience performing systems engineering tasks as part of a project team.

Duties / Scope

Having broad expertise or unique knowledge, a Cloud Engineer uses their skills to contribute and develop company objectives and principles, aiming to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.

A Cloud Engineer will exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Cloud Engineers should be able to act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments, serves as a mentor to others.

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To

The day-to-day management of the cloud infrastructures for Aptean's Business Systems, Applications, High Availability, and Business as Usual (BAU).
Constant examination and re-evaluation of existing systems to provide efficiencies within the cloud infrastructures.
Maintaining an efficient environment to keep BAU costs to a minimum.
Working with other teams, R & D, Support, and Professional Services to identify areas of improvement.
Supporting your associated product as a 3rd Line Product Expert, helping to meet SLA's.

You will be a key technical contact working within a product team of three and part of a wider European Team of 15+ engineers. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who is ready to widen their skillset and knowledge within the cloud infrastructure model.

Prerequisites

You will need at least 2 years' experience with cloud infrastructures, their configuration, monitoring and maintenance.

Personal Essential

You will need to be a good communicator as you will be liaising with a varied range of positions from the ground up to Senior Manager levels, and working as part of a large engineering team, you will require good interpersonal skills.
Methodical approach to scheduling, and running meetings are essential to the role, along with a good understanding of both technical, and project documentation.
Good Time Management skills
Your documentation skills will need to be on point as you may be required to be involved in, and understand:
Technical Schematics.
Infrastructure Design.
Native and bespoke cloud systems.
Share Knowledge and Best Practice with Peers.
