Our global consulting client has a permanent and onsite vacancy for a DevOps/Application Engineer to join a team that delivers the infrastructure for critical applications and development tools running within a secure environment. The Apps Support/DevOps Platform Engineer will focus on administrating, maintaining the infrastructure that is used to deliver the services.

Key Responsibilities

Management of the Azure DevOps infrastructure
Plan, coordinate and execute changes and upgrades within the DevOps environment
Implement automation and optimisation strategies to enhance platform performance
Create/maintain documentation of the DevOps environment
Provide first and second-line support for the DevOps platform
Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, application & performance issues
Escalate complex issues to third-line support or development teams.
Work closely with other departments and users to resolve complex technical issues
Continual service improvement to DevOps performance and operational efficiency

Due to the classification of this system, there is no opportunity for remote working and the support team work flexibly to maintain a constant presence during working hours. There are no out-of-hours SLA's associated with this system.

Skills Required

Management

Azure DevOps environment and infrastructure
Virtual and physical servers (Windows and Linux) and administration of VMware vSphere environment

Knowledge

DevOps concepts and best practise
Familiar with Active Directory
Exposure to Windows and Linux monitoring tools
Virtualisation technologies (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V, Docker/Podman)

Experience

Creation and/or administration of DevOps infrastructure
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to collaborate effectively across application, infrastructure, and networking teams. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent)

Eligibility for Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance and Security Check (SC) clearance is required.
