Job Title: Senior DevOps Automation Engineer (AWS Cloud Native)
Location & Type: Chicago, IL -Onsite 3 Days per Week, Direct Hire (Must be open to provide after-hours support and on-call rotation 5 PM-7 AM, 3 months/year).
Compensation: $121,500.00 - $194,800.00 (Target -$160,000 depending on experience level) base + bonus potential (8-15%)

The salary range for this position excludes fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final base compensation will be determined by the client based on experience, skills, and education, while maintaining internal equity within the team. They generally do not hire at the top of the range to allow for ongoing salary growth. Employees are also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package and may be considered for a discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance.
Summary
The Senior DevOps Automation Engineer provides subject matter expertise and leadership in the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud-based automation and testing frameworks within the non-production AWS environments. This role ensures system reliability, scalability, and performance through modern DevOps practices and advanced automation techniques.

What You Will Be Accountable For
Develop, implement, and maintain robust testing and automation framework to improve environment stability, troubleshooting, and deployment efficiency.
Design, optimize, and manage CI/CD pipelines to support agile development and rapid release cycles.
Automate repetitive tasks across infrastructure, testing, and deployments using Terraform, Bash, or Python.
Diagnose, resolve, and proactively prevent application and infrastructure issues impacting performance or user experience.
Advocate for DevOps, security, and cloud-native best practices across teams, driving a culture of continuous improvement.
Partner with development teams to identify automation opportunities and mentor peers on DevOps methodologies.
Implement and maintain automation tools within AWS and Kubernetes environments.
Create clear procedural and troubleshooting documentation to support operational excellence.
Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the DevOps and automation strategy.
What Qualifications You Need
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
7 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer with strong automation focus, proficiency with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Groovy) and infrastructure management tools (Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes).
Experience with IaC (Terraform and Ansible)
Strong command of Linux administration and scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) and solid understanding of AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM).
Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and modern testing practices.
