Job Title: HIPAA Specialist

Location: HQ in Denmark but will work in the US. Specializing in US HIPAA Laws, working preferably in Minneapolis or remote.

Duration: 04+ months

Pay Rate: Open for the rate

Objective:

Mapping of data flows across IT Systems supporting Customer US Location with focus on ePHI data and compliance with HIPAA and US state laws governing personal data.

Consultant Competencies:

Technical knowledge of IT systems and security measures applicable to healthcare data protection.
In-depth knowledge of HIPAA; specifically, the Security Rule and the Privacy Rule.
Ability to interpret and apply to Customer IT infrastructure and supported business processes.
Extensive experience with data flow mapping across systems and processes in the Life Science industry
IT database and data integration skills.
Experience with data mapping tools and methodologies.
Ability to analyse and interpret both structured and unstructured data.
Basic project management toolbox to lead/drive the activity across relevant application teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex compliance information clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Creative problem solving to suggest innovative solutions to compliance challenges.
Flexibility to work across European and US work hours.

Scope of Work:

Mapping of data flows across IT Systems supporting Customer US location with focus on ePHI data and compliance with HIPAA and US state law in terms of data security, access, and uses under the HIPAA Security Rule and Privacy Rule.
Six cloud-based systems and one on-prem ERP system are in initial scope.
Facilitation of workshops with business and IT system owners to get input to data flows.
Weekly update to project stakeholders.
Analysis of data storage, process, transfer, access, uses and integration points against HIPAA and state data locality legal requirements across all systems in scope.
Identification of compliance issues related to HIPAA and US state law for ePHI.
Onboarding of new Security Compliance Manager (once started).

Deliverables:

Documented data flows for IT Systems supporting Customer US Location.
Identification of data flows security vulnerabilities, dependencies, gaps (Assessment).
Identify current access of ePHI and use of ePHI to outline changes needed to conform with HIPAA Privacy Rule.
Provide actionable recommendations for compliance (Mitigation Plan).
