The Role
Pivotal Metals is seeking an experienced Exploration Geologist to join its Quebec-based exploration team. Reporting to the Exploration Manager, you will play a hands-on role in the design, execution, and supervision of exploration activities across the Company’s projects.
The role will involve significant field-based work and coordination with contractors and local stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality exploration outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and supervise exploration and drilling programs
Manage drill sites, contractors, and logistics to ensure HSE, quality, and cost objectives are met.
Conduct core logging, lithological and structural interpretation, and sampling.
Undertake geological mapping and surface geochemical sampling programs.
Maintain and update geological databases, maps, and cross-sections using MapInfo and other relevant software.
Prepare daily and weekly reports, including geological summaries and QA/QC documentation.
Liaise with laboratories, suppliers, and local contractors.
Support exploration permitting, compliance, and environmental best practice.
Contribute to resource definition and target generation through integration of geological, geochemical, and geophysical data.
Ensure adherence to Company safety standards and field protocols.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences (postgraduate qualification advantageous).
Minimum 5 years of relevant mineral exploration experience (nickel-copper sulphides preferred).
OGQ registration (or eligibility for registration) essential.
Demonstrated experience managing drill programs
Strong field mapping and geological interpretation skills.
Proficiency in MapInfo, Microsoft Office, and geological database management.
Knowledge of QA/QC protocols and industry best practices.
Fluency in French (spoken and written); functional English required.
Valid driver’s licence and ability to work in field-based environments for extended periods.
Desirable Skills and Attributes
Familiarity with geophysical data interpretation and target generation.
Experience with other GIS platforms, Geoscience Analyst, Leapfrog or equivalent 3D modelling software.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with an ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to environmental stewardship, safety, and respectful engagement with local and Indigenous communities.
Problem-solving mindset with a proactive and flexible approach to field operations.
