About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst / Business Systems Analyst with a strong background in banking and financial services. The ideal candidate will be skilled in analyzing business needs, translating them into technical solutions, and driving end-to-end delivery across digital transformation, lending, payments, and compliance initiatives.
The role requires someone who can bridge the gap between business and IT — with strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills — while ensuring the delivery of scalable and compliant business solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and technology teams to gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
Develop comprehensive BRDs, FRDs, user stories, and process flows to support new initiatives and system enhancements.
Conduct gap analysis, impact assessment, and root cause analysis to identify opportunities for process and system improvements.
Facilitate requirement workshops, JAD sessions, and sprint reviews, ensuring clear understanding and traceability of business objectives.
Support data mapping, data validation, and interface integration across multiple systems (e.g., LoanIQ, Oracle, Salesforce, APMS).
Partner with QA and UAT teams to define acceptance criteria, create test cases, and support defect triage during testing phases.
Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., OSFI, FINTRAC, Basel, AML/KYC).
Leverage SQL and reporting tools to perform ad-hoc data analysis and validation.
Support Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, retrospectives) and ensure requirements are delivered in alignment with business priorities.
Work closely with project management and solution architecture teams to ensure timely delivery and alignment to business goals.
Required Skills & Qualifications
10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst, preferably in the banking, capital markets, or financial services domain.
Proven expertise in requirements elicitation, documentation, and stakeholder management.
Strong data analysis and SQL querying skills.
Hands-on experience with Confluence, JIRA, Visio, and MS Office Suite for documentation and project tracking.
Exposure to Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
Good to Have
Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization tools.
Certifications such as CBAP, CSM, CSPO, PMP or equivalent.
Understanding of regulatory frameworks (Basel, AML/KYC, IFRS, ESG, etc.).
