The offshore renewable energy sector is experiencing significant global expansion, with Belgium taking a leading role.

Following the successful implementation of the first offshore high-voltage hub, the Modular Offshore Grid (MOG I), the offshore transmission network is being further developed with the innovative Princess Elisabeth Island. This artificial island will not only serve as a central hub for connecting new offshore wind farms, but also represents a key building block in the development of a future European offshore electricity grid.

In light of this expansion and the increasing technical complexity of our offshore projects, the Offshore Assets team aims to strengthen its engineering capacity. We are therefore looking for a motivated Project Engineer Offshore Structures.

Position Overview

As a Project Engineer Offshore Cables in our team, you will report directly to the Asset and Methods Manager Cables. You will play a key role in the continuous review and improvement of our submarine cable repair preparedness plans and take an active part in offshore cable repairs and remedial works. Additionally, you will closely monitor the documentation, installation, and handover processes of the Princess Elisabeth Island project, ensuring its seamless integration into our overall repair preparedness strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Play a key role within the cable asset management team in defining maintenance strategies for existing and future export cables and interconnectors.
Collaborate closely with the geo-engineering and operations teams to ensure aligned and cohesive project strategies;
Continuously review and enhance the submarine cable repair preparedness plan;
Manage and oversee framework agreements related to submarine cable repairs and fault location services;
Improve existing cable fault location procedures and explore innovative technologies to boost efficiency;
Lead the execution and management of offshore remedial and curative works, ensuring timely and effective resolution;
Supervise the management of spare parts and critical materials required for cable repairs;
Prepare for the operational phase of the Princess Elisabeth Island project and ensure thorough follow-up during its execution phase;

This position offers you the opportunity to contribute to a reliable offshore electrical network and play an important role in the further development of Elia's offshore activities.

Your Profile

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Mechanical, or Marine Engineering;
Proven experience in offshore cable installations or a similar engineering role;
Strong project management skills with a focus on problem-solving and decision-making;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders;
Ability to adapt to dynamic environments and changing priorities;
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to offshore cable operations;
Fluent in Dutch and English is mandatory to being able to communicate with all parties involved.
