Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.

We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across 9 countries and are growing fast.

How You'll Help Us Achieve It

We are seeking a Senior Product Marketing Manager to take up a global remit in building up the Product Marketing pillar within Wave. You have the exciting opportunity in this role to influence and help shape the product roadmap of one of Africa’s most successful tech startup, and change the lives of millions across the continent

In This Role, You'll

Partner closely with Global Product and Local Marketing teams to drive growth across our product portfolio via the development of compelling campaigns and co-developing product roadmap.
Build up a deep understanding of each product line working closely with product managers. In return, you’ll share meaningful customer data, local market insights to influence and inform product development strategy overall.
Bring local marketing teams up to speed on product USPs and launch timing. You’ll work together to identify target segments, and deliver on campaigns for new product launches and existing product reputes.
Identify and analyse product and campaign KPIs to measure campaign performance and in turn inform subsequent initiatives.
Regularly provide intel on both global and local market competitive landscape to the wider company, with insights on the so-what’s and considerations for Wave.
Coach, mentor, and lead a small local product marketing team in a people leadership role, who will also help you gather local market insights.

Location: This is a remote position with occasional travel to our operating countries required.
This is a permanent position.

Requirements

10+ years of experience in marketing or product development role, of which at least 5 years in product marketing in an established tech or fintech company/startup with a structured product marketing unit.
Experience of working across comprehensive and organised product portfolios where roadmaps are developed thoughtfully and strategically based on franchises and pillars.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, product development, or a related field.
Deep understanding of the tech product development process, with significant experience in collaborating with product teams in a marketing function.
Excellent ability to translate technical language into compelling consumer-facing messaging.
Proven success in having led product campaigns that delivered on and surpassed growth targets to answer unmet needs in the market.
Strong strategic thinking, coupled with the ability to manage all details of a marketing campaign launch independently.
Global and big picture thinking, but have the capability to step up your knowledge quickly on understanding local cultures and market landscape, being able to share insights back with global teams.
Strong analytical skills and well-versed in KPIs and measures of success.
Passionate about and up to date with tech and product trends, particularly fintech across both global markets and the African continent.
Strong team player, collaborator, and good interpersonal skills.
Experienced people leader with excellent leadership skills.
Flexibility to travel up to 3 times a year to our different operating markets in Africa.
Languages: Fluent in English and preferably French (written and spoken), though not mandatory.

Preferred Experience

Experience in product marketing and working with product teams is a must.
Familiarity with global tech and fintech markets and customer behaviour, a plus if you know the African market.
