Position: Web Development Specialist – WordPress
Location: Fredericton, New Brunswick (Onsite)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Web Development Specialist with strong expertise in WordPress to lead the design, development, and maintenance of web applications and digital platforms. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of modern web technologies, accessibility standards, and best practices in UX/UI design.
Must-Have Qualifications
Extensive hands-on experience in developing and maintaining WordPress websites, including the creation of custom themes and plugins.
Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL, with the ability to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize web applications.
Demonstrated experience designing responsive and accessible web interfaces aligned with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.
Familiarity with cloud hosting environments, DNS configuration, and automated deployment practices to ensure efficient and secure web application deployment.
Understanding of privacy, security, and compliance requirements relevant to public sector or enterprise-level web services.
Proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues across multiple environments and platforms.
A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Programmer Analyst or Web Developer specializing in website development and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
a. Web Application Design and Development
Lead WordPress website and custom plugin development projects.
Design responsive, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces.
Translate business and user requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and functional specifications.
Implement best practices in UX, accessibility, performance, and security.
b. Requirements Gathering and Documentation
Lead the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business, functional, and technical requirements.
Develop and maintain a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM).
Validate requirements with stakeholders and manage version-controlled documentation.
c. Project Coordination and Management
Create and maintain detailed project plans, including tasks, milestones, and dependencies.
Conduct regular project meetings and provide progress updates to stakeholders.
Monitor and manage risks, issues, and changes throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure collaboration and alignment across business, technical, and vendor teams.
d. Training and Change Management
Develop user training materials and knowledge transfer documentation.
Deliver training sessions for end users and administrators.
Support change management and adoption strategies for new systems.
e. Implementation, Migration, and Testing Support
Develop and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans.
Identify and document issues, risks, and mitigation strategies.
Support content migration and configuration in new WordPress environments.
Collaborate with technical teams to ensure smooth deployments.
f. Maintenance and Continuous Improvement
Monitor and optimize website and application performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Maintain secure, scalable, and up-to-date web applications.
g. Strategic and Transformational Projects
Lead digital initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.
Develop information architecture, user flows, and navigation models.
Provide strategic guidance and technical leadership on digital projects.
h. Innovation and Capacity Building
Mentor and support team members to build technical capacity.
Promote knowledge sharing and implement sustainable, innovative solutions.
