Position Overview:
The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is looking for a Graphic Design Intern to support exciting programs that connect aerospace professionals and students nationwide.
The Graphic Design Intern will support the Creative, Marketing, Communications, and Sales, teams by designing graphics and layouts for digital, web, print, and other channels while working within established brand guidelines. The intern will assist with design concepts, collaborate with team members, and learn how to adapt work based on feedback.
This internship will primarily be located at the AIAA office in Reston, VA. Candidates must reside in the DMV area. Housing and transportation will not be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with visual assets for digital and print, such as graphics, page layouts, and marketing materials.
Collaborate with the Creative Director and team members to brainstorm concepts and strategies.
Reformat, resize, and manage creative assets.
Incorporate team feedback into designs.
Ensure brand consistency across all projects.
Contribute to the full design cycle from research to final presentation.
Other duties as assigned by the team.
Position Details:
Flexible schedule: Expected to work 20 hours per week in a hybrid setting.
Opportunities to attend local DMV based AIAA events and industry webinars.
Work closely with internal teams, members, and external partners to support Institute goals.
Qualifications:
Junior or senior in college, currently local to the DMV area, pursuing a bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.); WordPress, HTML, Figma, and Microsoft Office a plus.
Understanding of design principles, layout, and typography.
Creativity with a critical eye for detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Self-motivated and eager to learn from feedback.
A portfolio showcasing design work.
