We're excited to announce that New World Foods, part of the Kepak Group, is on the lookout for an Interim Specification Technologist to join our friendly team in York!

As a leading producer of high-protein ambient snack products in the UK, New World Foods offers an enticing variety of premium meat snacks. From delicious jerky and authentic biltong to crispy pork scratchings, they proudly feature well-loved brands like WILD WEST, CRUGA, and Pub Originals.

This is a 3-6 month fixed term contract offering great flexibility working from home.

JOB PURPOSE:

We are looking for an experienced Specifications Technologist. You will be responsible for the completion of all specifications both customer and internal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Produce and manage detailed internal finished product specifications and customer specifications in the format dedicated by the customer (Aldi PLM/M&S Find/Lidl Wave), ensuring all information is accurate and kept up to date in a timely manner
Completely understand each retailers' requirements and advise site accordingly of any gaps
Validation of all product labels to ensure they accurately reflect specifications and comply with labeling regulations and legal requirements.
Review and identify the gaps regarding all current raw material specifications for internal use ensuring that regular updates of specifications are obtained and approved.
Provide accurate supplier information and technical support to other departments and customers
To assist in the preparation for any customer/retailer audits

Requirements

Previous experience of working with retailer specifications is essential (M&S/Aldi/Lidl advantageous). Excellent IT skills
Good knowledge & understanding of retailer standards & food labelling legislation
Proven experience as a Specifications Technologist or a similar role within the food industry.
Excellent attention to detail skills is essential
An enthusiastic team player with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both within the business and directly with customers and suppliers
