What you'll be doing...

This is a 9-month Full Time Temporary position

The Payroll and Benefits Administrator ensures the accurate and timely processing of the full payroll cycle and is responsible for a variety of benefits administration duties. You will be verifying entries relating to pay transactions, payroll earnings deductions and related remittances. You will be tasked with setting up and maintaining procedures for the processing of various wage assignment court orders. You will also be the go to person for inquiries from BC Transit employees, other departments as well as a variety of agencies in regards to pay records, vacation, pension etc. In addition, you will also be performing a variety of other pay related duties including generating payroll reports, maintaining records, and documenting process for processing of pay.

What you'll bring to the table...

We value lifelong learners and have found the following combination of education and experience allows people to be successful in this role:

Currently enrolled or completed the Payroll Compliance Practitioner Requirements of the Canadian Payroll Association
Payroll experience working with a computerized payroll system ideally in a unionized environment with exposure to the administration of union contracts
Working knowledge of Employment Insurance (E.I.) and Canadian Pension Plan Legislation (C.P.P)

What next steps could look like...

Interviews will take place in early December 2025
There will be an assessment as part of the interview process.
The position requires the completion of a Criminal Record Check or Vulnerable Sector Search.
